ITC of New York is proud to announce its official line up featuring 6 of the UK’s most outstanding
bands who will be traveling to our shores for ITC of New York taking place this June 13th and 14th.
In The City of New York Night Time features acts that represent the current and future sounds from
the UK. Boasting a line-up that will entice even the most particular tastes, the events being held at
Nokia Theatre and the Highline Ballroom will be the crown jewel of the 2 day event.
While ITC of New York will be introducing our ears to newcomers Enter Shikari, The Pigeon Detectives,
and Blood Red Shoes, they’re also bringing back once again the exciting sounds of The Rakes and Biffy Clyro.

The Rakes
The Pigeon Detectives
The Rakes' take on working life in the UK has led some observers to describe them as the world's first
post-David Brent band. They’re the perfect compliment to play with "The Mondays" as they represent
a new generation who are liberating legions of British working class lads and lasses from their desks
to the dancefloor. Tony called upon his trustworthy son Oliver Wilson,
“the smartest cookie around”,
(besides Tony of course), and asked who he'd receommend for ITC. Oliver suggested
The Pigeon Detectives, and since he’s never let Tony down before and turned him onto Enter Shikari,
ITC is most eager to have them perform.

Biffy Clyro
Enter Shikari
Blood Red Shoes
During this past year, Tony Wilson has been raving about Enter Shikari, the most exciting band he’s
seen since the Sex Pistols in 1976 and so without question, they were among a top choice for debuting
their material in NYC at ITC. When Enter Shikari heard of the news of one of their favorite bands
Biffy Clyro playing the same night, they immediately called Tony and said that they just couldn’t
follow them live, Tony decided to make them headliners for the evening. Blood Red Shoes, who
just toured with Panic At The Disco, kick off the night’s events at the Highline because they fit in
as the North of the Border version of this new screamo British culture.
In addition to these events, our media partners will be hosting ITC of NY’s official afterparties, starting
at midnight onwards. Stay tuned for details on who’s playing and djing from Hiro Ballroom to the Annex.

About The Bands...
JUNE 13th Knitting Factory
THE RAKES

London’s most switched-on, keyed-up young band. The Rakes, from East London, will be
coming to ITCoNY fresh from the studio having just finished recording their brilliant sophomore
album Ten New Messages with producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Editors, Kasabian) and
Brendan Lynch (Primal Scream, Paul Weller). Musically for The Rakes it was about broadening
their palette – the short-sharp-shock of their first album, Capture/Release, has given way to longer,
more developed, complicated songs. Fear not though, the band haven’t gone all avant-garde or
experimental or anything, they’ve simply “gotten better at our jobs” to quote one of the lads.
As with their blistering debut, the new songs are as lean as the band themselves: Alan Donohoe
(vocals), Matthew Swinnerton (guitar), Jamie Hornsmith (bass), Lasse Petersen (drums). Indeed,
lean as rakes they may be but there’s a definite lyrical muscularity and ambiguity about them that
adds a punch and a half.
The Rakes will be unleashing material from their second album as well as their angst ridden debut,
at the Nokia Theatre on June 13th for ITCoNY.

THE PIGEON DETECTIVES

“If the Strokes had been raised in West Yorkshire, chances are they’d sound like this. The best
12 pop songs we’ve heard in ages, all on one disc. Result!” - NME
The Pigeon Detectives are a band from Rothwell in Leeds. Recently championed by BBC’s
DJ/ taste making guru Steve Lamacq and having performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals
in 2006, they were tagged "the band most likely to leap to the main stage in 2007” in a NME
review. They supported Dirty Pretty Things and fellow West Yorkshire band the Kaiser Chiefs,
who are well known fans of the band.
They’re a band bringing up to date a classic British rock’n’roll tradition: one that stretches back
(and beyond) to the earliest days of our beloved Fab Four, one that takes in the adolescent thrills
of the Buzzcocks and The Undertones along the way.
They are signed in the UK to the label Dance to the Radio with whom their debut album,
'Wait For Me', will be released on CD/12" Heavyweight Vinyl & Digital Download on the 28th
May 2007. The album, recorded in the Fall of 2006, has been produced by Will Jackson
(Kaiser Chiefs / Embrace). It was mixed in part by Cenzo Townshend (Snow Patrol / Kaiser Chiefs /
Bloc Party) and Steve Harris (The Automatic / U2) - Not bad company at all.

BIFFY CLYRO

“As inventive as Muse and as vigorous as Fugazi” - Kerrang
You’ll have heard of Biffy Clyro before; Simon Neil and twins James and Ben Johnston, formed
their band as teenagers at school in Scotland, inspired by a shared love of experimental rock and
melody. Earning an army of fans throughout their formative years the band have 3 full-length
recordings already under their belts (some of which you will hear this June at ITC before they
embark on this summer’s Warp Tour!)
In addition they’ll be debuting new material from their 4th album, the band’s finest moment to date,
'Puzzle’, which promises to elevate Biffy Clyro from cult noiseniks to major league stars. An evocative
and majestic power trio, and Britain’s “most loved cult” Biffy Clyro have written some of the most
intelligent and challenging music of their careers, which in turn, has only fuelled the desire to record
their biggest, best and most diverse record yet.
It’s a definitive statement, from a band that believers have always known would take on the world one
day. With producer Garth Richardson (the band inspired by his work with Rage Against
the Machine & Kerbdog), and mixed with the legendary Andy Wallace, the process was completed
with artwork designed by Storm Thorgerson; the man behind classic records both old (Pink Floyd) and
new (Muse). “We’re for people who live for music and who love music, because we love music and
we live for music” claim Biffy Clyro and that’s one of the reasons why other bands admire them so
much including ITC mates Enter Shikari, Editors and Bloc Party (with whom the band have just
completed a 4-week tour of Europe).
Puzzle is crammed with glorious rock songs and is designed to unite as many people as possible in
its melody and power.

ENTER SHIKARI

"One of the most exciting live bands in the world today - KKKKK" - Kerrang!
"Fusing bone-snapping metal dynamics with euphoric house music.it's a unison that sounds fucking
righteous... the most frighteningly visceral rock 'n' roll experience there is, has ever been, or ever
could be. Things will never be the same again" - NME
Enter Shikari are a young 4-piece band from St Albans, Hertfordshire. Their music is a hybrid of
hardcore-punk-rock and trance / rave (the term 'trancecore' has been used, but we'll leave pigeonholing
to journalists). The buzz was thick and even travelled stateside when Enter Shikari sold out the
Astoria in London in 06, making them only the second unsigned act to ever do so.
With over 500 UK gigs under their belt, this past year has seen them play their first overseas shows,
including the Eurosonic event in Holland, a show in Tokyo, an arena tour of Germany (with Canadian
bands Billy Talent and Alexisonfire) and a full headline European tour. Finally bowing to pressure
from the fans they’ve collected online, they are embarking on their first ever US tour in June and are
set to perform at In The City for their first ever NYC show.
Enter Shikari's debut album 'Take To The Skies' was released in the UK, Europe and Japan in March
2007. Despite having been made sizable offers by every major label in the country they took the route
of releasing the album on their own label Ambush Reality (with practical assistance from their
distributors, Vital / Integral). They proved themselves right when the album reached number 4 in the
UK album charts. They come to the US boasting a UK / Europe / Japanese press-pack currently running
at twice the thickness of the London phonebook, and copies of a top 5 UK album in their back pocket.
Enter Shikari is an act sure not to miss.

BLOOD RED SHOES

Blood Red Shoes are two people, Laura-Mary, who wishes she were Spanish, and Steven who
wishes he were French, only they both live in Brighton on the south coast of England. After
their previous bands ceased activity (Lady Muck and Cat On Form respectively) in late 2005
they got together for a jam for fun, Steven took up the drum kit and Laura-Mary played her guitar.
It was loud for just two people.
Blood Red Shoes likes Babes in Toyland, Q and not U, cake, chocolate, childishness, Delta 5,
zombies and horror, Nirvana, The Bangles, blood and gore, cups of tea, good shoes, dancing,
knives, Huggy Bear, and being in a band.
Blood Red Shoes have recently signed to V2 records for the world excluding the Americas.
They have just been supporting Panic! at the Disco and Maximo Park in the UK and will be
headlining the NME new bands tour in May.
